Squirrels

Just like Matt I enjoy watching the squirrels. Here at Ohio State they are a regular circus.

My favorite squirrel story is an acrobatic squirrel feat about two years ago. I watched a squirrel make a mad dash across the street and just as he was making his final leap to the safety of the sidewalk, he jumped directly into the side of a bike tire. The poor squirrel was catapulted about 20 feet in the air. Landed with a tuck and roll and took off toward a tree. Huffing and puffing like an exhausted athlete. :)

I think I was the only one who saw it, and I don't think the cyclist even knew. I couldn't stop laughing.

My funny squirrel story...okay well maybe more like frightening squirrel story:

I am also an Ohio State alum (BTW, how'd you like the game?). I commuted to school my senior year and while in between classes, I decided to run out to McDonald's for a breakfast sandwich. I sat on a bench on the Oval near my class and was munching on my sausage biscuit when I noticed a curios squirrel on the other end of the bench. I thought, "Oh how cute," and tossed him a bite of biscuit. The squirrel inched closer and so I gave him some more biscuit. Before I knew it, the squirrel was sitting about 3 inches from my head leaning over my shoulder attempting to snag the rest of my biscuit. I'd put the last bite in my mouth when the squirrel started to get pissed that there was no more biscuit to be shared. It started chatter at me and shake it's tail, so I got up and left. The damn thing started to chase me!!! The squirrels at OSU are very aggressive.
